PhD Scholarship 2025 in Radioanalytical Chemistry at DTU Sustain
Hey aspiring scientists and future innovators! Are you ready to dive deep into the fascinating world of radioanalytical chemistry and contribute to a safer, cleaner future? If you’re seeking a challenging yet incredibly rewarding PhD opportunity, then listen up!
DTU Sustain (Technical University of Denmark, Department of Environmental and Resource Engineering) is offering a fully-funded PhD scholarship in Radioanalytical Chemistry at their beautiful Risø Campus. This is your chance to join a world-class research team and make a real impact on environmental risk assessment, waste characterization, and tracing environmental processes.
Who Are They Looking For?
If you’re highly motivated, self-driven, and love hands-on laboratory work, this could be your perfect fit. They’re seeking someone who:
- Has a two-year master’s degree (120 ECTS points) or equivalent.
- Holds a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in chemistry or environmental science.
- Possesses a background or experience in fields like:
- Radioanalytical chemistry
- Measurement techniques for radionuclides (alpha, beta, gamma, liquid scintillation, ICP-MS)
- Nuclear and radiochemistry
- Analytical chemistry
- Inorganic chemistry
- Radiation protection
- Environmental science
- Bonus points if you have hands-on experience in developing methods for analyzing those “difficult-to-measure” radionuclides.
What Will You Be Doing?
As a PhD student, you’ll be at the forefront of research, engaging in exciting tasks such as:
- Developing radiochemical procedures for separating radionuclides from environmental samples (like seawater, sediment, soil) and radioactive waste (spent resin, steel, concrete).
- Optimizing radiometric methods for measuring radionuclides, with a focus on the novel triple-to-double coincidence ratio method of liquid scintillation counting (TDCR-LSC).
- Developing and optimizing mass spectrometry methods using advanced ICP-MS techniques.
- Collaborating closely with an interdisciplinary team.
- Disseminating your research through publications and conferences.
