Japan KDDI Foundation Scholarship 2025 Open

The KDDI Foundation (KDDI財団) has officially opened applications for its 2026 scholarship program, offering a competitive opportunity for international students currently pursuing graduate-level studies in Japan. This prestigious scholarship supports students who are committed to advancing research in Information Technology or its related disciplines within fields such as Law, Politics, Economics, Social Sciences, and Science Technology.

What the KDDI Scholarship Offers?

Recipients of the KDDI Foundation Scholarship 2026 will receive a monthly stipend of 100,000 yen, provided for a duration of either 6 or 12 months, beginning April 1, 2026.

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be 35 years old or younger as of April 1, 2026.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral program at a Japanese university (students expected to enroll in April 2026 are not eligible unless transitioning from a master’s to a doctoral program).
  • Must hold a “Student” status of residence.
  • Must be conducting research in Information Technology or related fields.
  • Must be a national of one of the target countries listed on page 5 of the application guide.
  • Each student can only be recommended by one academic advisor, and only one student may be recommended per advisor.

Note: Doctoral students are only eligible if they are expected to complete their degree.

  3. Certificate of Enrollment
  4. Academic Transcripts (undergraduate to latest)

  7. Application Checklist.

Submission Deadline

The final date to submit the application is Wednesday, July 16, 2025.
