Ireland’s Fellowship Programme 2026-2027 Now Open for Applications

The Government of Ireland has officially opened applications for its Fellowship Programme for Small Island Developing States (SIDS) for the academic year 2026–2027. This fully funded opportunity is especially aimed at individuals from eligible SIDS countries, including Saint Lucia, who are interested in pursuing a Master’s degree in Ireland starting in August or September 2026.

What is This Fellowship About?

Ireland’s Fellowship Programme is designed to:

  • Support the next generation of leaders—both men and women—from SIDS.
  • Strengthen countries’ abilities to tackle climate change and meet their sustainable development goals.
  • Build long-lasting personal, professional, and institutional links between Ireland and SIDS countries.

What Does the Fellowship Cover?

This scholarship is fully funded by the Irish Government, covering:

  • Full tuition fees
  • Return airfare
  • Accommodation
  • Duration: 10 to 16 months, depending on the chosen Master’s course.

What Can You Study?

Fellows will study Master’s-level programs that focus on:

  • Climate change
  • The blue economy
  • Other subjects that support national development priorities in SIDS countries.

Who Can Apply?

  • Applicants must be nationals of eligible Small Island Developing States.
  • They must wish to pursue relevant Master’s degrees in Ireland.
  • Full eligibility rules may vary slightly by country, so check the guidance notes carefully.

How to Apply?

The application process has three stages:

  1. Stage 1: Preliminary Application
  2. Stage 2: Detailed Application
  3. Stage 3: Interview
