Funding Package

Each recipient of the Norfolk Southern Trades on Track SkillPointe Scholarship will receive $5,000 to support tuition and training costs. The funds are paid directly to the educational or training institution, ensuring that students can fully focus on their skill development. This support extends across trade schools, technical and vocational programs, railway certifications, community colleges, and two-year transitional programs to universities.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, applicants must:

• Be enrolled in a post-secondary educational or training institution related to railway industry trades.
• Study in eligible states, which include Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.
• Pursue training connected to railway careers such as:
  • Locomotive Engineers and Conductors
  • Track and Signal Maintenance
  • Mechanical and Equipment Maintenance (Diesel Mechanics, Railcar Technicians, Machinists)
  • Welding and Electrical Engineering/Technician roles
  • Safety and Operations (Dispatchers)
  • Railroad Construction and Heavy Equipment Operation
• Not be an employee, spouse, or dependent of an employee of Norfolk Southern (such applicants should instead consider the Thoroughbred Scholarship Program).

Application Timeline
