Scholarship Benefits
The scholarship offers a lump sum of $5,000. This financial support is designed to ease the burden of study costs, enabling students to focus on both their academic journey and sporting career. Payments are processed within a few weeks of the semester census date or scholarship acceptance.
Eligibility Criteria
This opportunity is open to international and domestic students alike, provided they:
- Are enrolled in any year of an undergraduate degree or enabling program at the University of Newcastle.
- Intend to study full-time (minimum 60 units per year).
- Are a member of, and play for, a University of Newcastle sporting team, or represent the university individually.
- Maintain a strong academic record, with either a qualifying ATAR (for new students) or a minimum GPA of 4.0 (for continuing students).
- Have achieved at least district-level representative selection in their chosen sport within the past two years.
- Are not professional sportspeople and have not previously received this scholarship.
Required Documentation
Applicants will need to upload supporting documents (in PDF format) through the application portal, including:
- A personal statement (approx. 1 page) outlining academic achievements, career goals, and how the scholarship will help.
- Evidence of sporting achievements (team selection letters, event participation, published results, or media links).
- A written reference verifying sporting accomplishments.
