This prestigious funding is open to students pursuing either full-time or part-time master’s or PhD research studies at a New Zealand university.

The scholarship specifically supports research in any ageing-related topic, with a strong encouragement for interdisciplinary approaches that explore the complex impact of ageing on individuals and society. Only one award will be granted under this scholarship for the 2026 academic cycle.


Who Can Apply?

This scholarship is inclusive and internationally open! You are eligible if:

  • You are currently enrolled in a master’s or PhD program at a New Zealand university.
  • You are conducting research related to ageing—this could be biological ageing, ageing and society, healthcare for the elderly, gerontechnology, and more.
  • You are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, OR an international student of merit already studying at a New Zealand university.
  • You are willing to:
    • Submit a brief research progress report.
    • Acknowledge the HOPE Foundation in your research outputs.

Application Requirements

  • A 2-page summary of your proposed research project.
  • Evidence of ethical approval (applied for or already obtained).
