UWA Winthrop Scholarship 2025 in Australia Accepting Applications

The UWA Winthrop Scholarship, one of the most prestigious academic scholarships at the University of Western Australia (UWA), is now open for applications! Named in honor of Sir John Winthrop Hackett KCMG, a visionary leader who championed accessible education, this scholarship is designed to recognize and support the next generation of academic and community leaders.

Each year, 10 scholarships valued at $10,000 per annum are awarded to domestic Year 12 students in Western Australia who excel academically, demonstrate strong leadership potential, and show a commitment to their community and co-curricular achievements.

Selected scholars benefit from:

  • Financial Support: $10,000 per annum to assist with tuition, accommodation, and living expenses for up to six semesters of undergraduate study and an additional year for honors if applicable. Postgraduate support is also available for up to eight semesters.

Are You Eligible?

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be a Year 12 student applying to UWA through Early Offer or the Tertiary Institutions Service Centre (TISC), with UWA as the first preference.
  • Achieve an ATAR of 95 or above.
  • Be commencing a full-time undergraduate degree in 2025.

How to Apply?

Winthrop scholarships are awarded based on:

  • Academic Excellence: Applicants must reasonably expect to achieve an ATAR of 95 or higher.
  • Community Excellence: Contributions to community initiatives.
  • Co-Curricular Excellence: Involvement in extracurricular activities.
  • Leadership Potential: A compelling vision for leadership and community advancement.

To apply, students must complete the UWA Winthrop Application Template (https://www.uwa.edu.au/study/fees-and-scholarships/uwa-winthrop-scholarship) and provide:

  1. Evidence of achievements and activities in Years 11 and 12, including a leadership statement.
  2. A School Principal’s Endorsement Form confirming the predicted ATAR based on Year 11 results.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited for interviews during the Easter break.
